Each summer, some Disseminar members come together to run a free Zoom workshop series for academic job seekers in our field.
Jobs in English and Transdisciplinary Studies, or JETS, consists of five meetings focusing on different aspects of the English academic job market, from deciding which jobs to apply for to preparing for interviews. New in 2025, we are adding to this existing work with a group peer review and an annotated bibliography of studies on the academic job market.
We know that there are sometimes gaps or oversights in job market preparation for English PhDs; we also know that this already-competitive market is continuing to change year by year. For those reasons, we aim to:
- Offer advice using long-term experience mentoring job-seekers but centering recent experiences of job-seekers, and
- Build a network of support across institutions and subdisciplines.
